Cartilage Repair Research
The Cartilage Research Laboratory at Rhode Island Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is part of the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) for Skeletal Health and Repair. In 2012, the center was awarded a $10.8 million Phase II grant from the US National Institutes of Health to fund studies of cartilage and joint health.
The COBRE enables biologists, chemists, materials scientists, engineers, and clinicians to conduct multidisciplinary research side-by-side, helping us to better understand cartilage and joint health mechanisms and develop strategies for the prevention and treatment of skeletal joint diseases.
The COBRE has the unique distinction of conducting research projects on both adult and pediatric skeletal health and diseases.
