Medical Assistant Training Program

Workforce Development offers a free 20-week medical assistant (MA) program for those ages 18 and older. This program runs in partnership with The Genesis Center or Community College of RI and prepares its participants with the education and hands-on learning necessary to be medical assistants. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive their basic life support (BLS) certification and sit for the national Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam.

Students will learn:

  • Basic clinical procedures including vital signs, electrocardiogram (EKG), and laboratory testing
  • How to assist healthcare providers during examinations and laboratory procedures
  • Front office administrative duties, such as scheduling, billing, and patient communication
  • Medical terminology, anatomy, and legal/ethical standards

  • Friday, February 20, from 11 a.m. to noon
