Profiles in Giving
From Patient to Philanthropist
Meet nineteen-year-old Teagan – Hasbro Children’s newest grateful patient, turned entrepreneur, turned philanthropist! Recently inspired by her favorite cartoon, Teagan told her mom via her communication device she wanted to have a lemonade stand and donate the money to Hasbro Children’s.
Just one month after being discharged from the NICU at Women and Infants where she was born at 24 weeks, Teagan was rushed to Hasbro Children’s, and her mom says their incredible care has saved her daughter’s life countless times.
Teagan’s been cared for by neurology, surgery, respiratory, and rehabilitation, among many other specialists, but regardless of who is involved, her mom says her care has always been so coordinated. Teagan especially enjoys swimming at pediatric rehab and chose to direct her donation to the pediatric physical and occupational therapy fund.
Purpose, Philanthropy, and a Life Well-Built
For longtime volunteer and Foundation board trustee Sheryl Amaral, giving back to Brown University Health is both personal and purposeful — a way to carry forward the life she built with her late husband, Everett.
The couple’s connection to the health system runs deep. As Everett Amaral grew his construction business, he partnered with Brown Health to develop healing spaces for patients and families. Sheryl brought her expertise in healthcare and communications to national advocacy efforts while supporting programs at Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam, and Hasbro Children’s.
Balise Auto Group Drives Healing Forward
Balise Auto Group has been a trusted name in automobile sales and service in New England for more than a century. Still, their dedication to the community extends far beyond cars. In a remarkable demonstration of that commitment, Balise has pledged a $1 million gift to Hasbro Children’s to establish The Balise Family Endowment, ensuring compassionate, child-centered care for future generations.
Hasbro, Inc.’s Timeless Legacy Of Giving
Providing Joy (and Play-Doh!) During Times of Uncertainty
Since Hasbro Children’s opened 30 years ago, the generosity and spirit of Hasbro, Inc. has remained ever-present down every corridor of the hospital. From the iconic My Little Pony, Mr. Potato Head, Peppa Pig and Transformers that line the front windows, to the generous donations of toys and games enjoyed by patients of all ages, Hasbro’s mission to entertain through the “wonder of storytelling and exhilaration of play” is alive and well at Hasbro Children’s. Meet Bruno Ramieri
"How can I help?”
That’s the question Bruno Ramieri asked Hasbro Children’s in 2020 as he tried to cope with immense grief.
At the time, Bruno was about to lose his wife of 60 years, Pauline, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Making matters worse, he couldn’t visit her in the nursing home because of COVID-19 restrictions.
