Student Nurse Internship Program
Brown University Health’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) Program is a unique opportunity to have a paid internship in a clinical setting at one of our hospitals in Rhode Island or Massachusetts. This is a great way to complement your studies and clinical rotations, while getting additional experience within the Brown University Health system.
Program Highlights
Program highlights include:
- Two program structures:
- Year-round internship (June 2026 through May 2027), with a commitment of 24 hours per month
- Summer internship (June through August 2026), with a commitment of 36 hours per week – available for students who attend school more than 50 miles from one of our hospitals, and offered at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children's and Newport Hospital only
- Rate: $20 per hour
- Schedules to include day, night and weekend rotation
- Opportunities available at our hospitals across Rhode Island and Massachusetts:
- Rhode Island Hospital – Providence, RI
- Hasbro Children’s – Providence, RI
- The Miriam Hospital – Providence, RI
- Bradley Hospital (pediatric psychiatric hospital) – East Providence, RI
- Newport Hospital – Newport, RI
- Saint Anne’s Hospital – Fall River, MA
- Opportunities available in the following specialties:
- Operating room
- Emergency department
- Medical-surgical units
- Critical care
- Behavioral health (children, adolescents, and adults)
Qualifications
Qualification to apply to the SNI include:
- Current nursing student
- Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited baccalaureate degree program in nursing is preferred.
- Candidates in an accredited associates degree program will also be considered.
- Active nursing assistant licensure upon hire (for RI positions only)
- Current certification in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Completion of at least one clinical rotation in an acute care hospital setting prior to beginning the SNI program
