Neuropathology
The Division of Neuropathology provides a wide array of consultation services and numerous opportunities for collaboration with clinical departments.
The division offers diagnostic consultation services in the following areas:
- Brain tumors, including the use of immunohistochemical and molecular techniques (recently expanded).
- Skeletal muscle and peripheral nerve pathology, including the use of electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry for selected muscular dystrophies, enzyme histochemistry, and teased nerve fiber preparation.
- Ophthalmic pathology.
- General surgical neuropathology (e.g., vasculitis, infectious disease, demyelinating disease).
- Autopsy neuropathology, including neurodegenerative diseases.
- Consultations services for second-opinion cases.
The division also welcomes collaborations with clinical departments including, but not limited to, neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, and psychiatry.
